Most phones and tablets support detection and calibration with the physical surroundings through internal camera (ARKit devices). You will be prompted to explore your surroundings before entering the AR experience.
Follow the instructions given in the app. And have in mind the following tips:
- Aim your device's camera at the floor or table you would like to place your 3D model.
- Make sure to move gently and slowly start scanning the surface with your camera. From side to side.
- Moving your device to quickly will not help. Slow down and rescan your surface.
- The surface can be too dark or bright for your camera to detect surfaces. Change light settings in room or area or try from a different angle. Sometimes the flashlight can be of help.
- A surface can also be hard to detect if it has few visual markers. This may occur on a one colored surface or patterned surfaces. Fix this by adding some physical items to the surface. A book, pen, paper, or even a shoe tip.
Select model by tapping the object.
Use one finger, point and hold on object to move the model.
Rotate by using two fingers. Scale by using two fingers or advanced settings in menu.
Move object up or down with functions in right hand menu.
If you get interrupted while using the app, like a phone call or need to use a different app, the calibration of surroundings can get an offset.
The application can not save scenes due to the phones and tablets support of detection and calibration. Restart and make a new scene.

To scale, select size when choosing a new object, or by simply marking an object and use the pinching gesture to increase and decrease the size of your model. In the menu you can resize 1:1 ratio, scale to desired size by entering exact numbers or use the more advanced scaling tool. In the advanced scaling tool the scale of the model will appear as text on the screen. Scaling may not be available for all 3D models.
